How We Got Here
A year and a half ago, Emmett was let go from his first software job. It was an incredibly hard day, but likely the most important of his life. He had already been working nights and weekends on what would become Barrett Solutions. That day, he went straight from the office to the desk he was renting at Bamboo. A few hours later, he realized there was nothing he wanted more than the risk of building something of his own. He called his parents and friends to tell them he'd been let go, and not to worry. Because he was going all in.
Day One
One desk at Bamboo
He went all in on day one. One rented desk at Bamboo, a company with no clients, and no plan to go back.
First Hire
The broom closet
A few months later he hired Logan, his first engineer. Their first office was a broom closet in the basement of Bamboo.
Second Hire
First real office
Hire two meant it was time for an actual office. They moved upstairs into a room with windows! It felt like progress.
Growing the Team
State Street
He brought on his first senior engineer, an ex-Menlo Innovations veteran, and his chief of staff, a 10-year LinkedIn veteran. The team moved into a 450 sq ft office on State Street and started to feel like a firm.
Today
Main Street
Two thousand square feet on Main Street. A full engineering team of six. And a client list that keeps growing.
